Shew v. Malloy (CT) SCOTUS Amicus 2016

Shew v. Malloy out of Connecticut was the first of four cases to reach the Petition stage at SCOTUS, following passage of the “SAFE Act” and similar styled legislation in NY, CT, and MD. Paloma’s Amicus Brief lays out the arguments on the Second Amendment as the modern civil rights movement. Although cert was denied in the case, the questions presented by the case and discussed in this Amicus Brief remain relevant to this day.

Appendix A to this Amicus Brief was a historic listing of the more than 150 groups and individuals who opposed this legislation. This amicus group is thought to be the largest amicus group ever assembled for a single submission.

Also historic are the two fold-out charts, setting forth the number of NFA firearms registered in the US in 2015.
