This is the New York State Police “User Guide” for its new background check system, as published to the general public on 09.12.2023. This “User Guide” was published for the first time the day before the new system went live.
In particular, notice the mandatory fields, including for make - model - serial number for firearm and manufacturer - caliber - rounds for the ammunition, plus the Social Security Number is required.
This “User Guide” is the first window into the gun owners registry being built by NYS Governor Hochul with the NYS Police.
